What's in a name? EVERYTHING.

The right name can make you unforgettable. The wrong one? An uphill battle from day one. Names carry weight — in boardrooms, on business cards, and on the playground. They shape how people show up in the world before they even get a chance to introduce themselves.

As a brand developer, I think about names for a living. So when it came time to name my own kids, you better believe I treated it like a full brand strategy session.

Three boys. Three names. Luke, Leo and Eli.

Short. Strong. Unforgettable. Easy to spell, easy to say, impossible to forget. Exactly what every great brand should be.

And honestly? That's not a coincidence.

Branding starts at birth. A name is the very first piece of identity someone carries into the world. Whether it's a person or a business, the name sets the tone for everything that follows... the personality, the perception, the path.

When I'm building a brand for a client, the name has to do a lot of heavy lifting. It needs to stand out, be remembered, and mean something. The same logic applies when you're naming a human.

Here's the checklist I use for both:

  • Is it easy to spell and say?

  • What does it rhyme with? (Nicknames are inevitable)

  • Google it — seriously

  • Understand the meaning in multiple languages

  • Will it age well?

  • Does it stand out without being try-hard?

  • List 3 reasons you love it and 1 reason you don't

Luke, Leo and Eli passed every single test.

Strong names build strong brands. And these three? They're already living proof.

Ready to build a brand that actually sticks?

Whether you're naming a business, launching something new, or honestly just need a second opinion on what to name your baby, your fur baby, or your next big idea — I'm here for all of it.

Branding is more than a logo. It's identity. It's strategy. It's the thing people remember long after they've forgotten everything else.
